![](/profile/get-photo.asp?memberid=1306&type=profile&rnd=709) central - east central Minnesota - | STO - 8/14/2018 08:31 Update:Just got off the phone with the mayor. The original plan was as I described......they want slop the road all to the west side. I voiced my concerns about taking all the water and possibly flooding my building. He said if I don't want any changes made in front of my building they would leave that area alone. The worst area is a ways down the road and they will just start the work farther down. I still think sloping the road all in one direction is a dumb idea, but I do agree that due to the layout there is not a good alternative to drain the water. What the road needs is a drainage ditch on each side and possibly some culverts to drain the ditch, but there is just not enough room to do that, as there is a stream on one side of the road and a city owned park on the other side. Thanks for all of your input. on the surface, it just doesn't sound "right" . . . . . . does the Mayor have an engineer that knows what they are doing looking at the project? City owned park land could help relieve water issues with holding ponds or a ditch. But, sloping a road to drain only off one side will not work in the long term. It'll wash and how will traffic travers on the tilted road ? Vehicles will have a tendency to move to the lower side - on coming traffic. Not sure of their budget, but drain tile on each side of the shoulder could possible solve the issue with water and keeping a crown in the road. drain tile dumps in the creek near by ? Edit: I hate it when government units slop projects together . . . . it's not like the road isn't going to be used in 50 -100 yrs, so do it right, even if it means purchasing some ditch easement from adjoining properties. Maybe curb and getter with storm drains into a settling / holding pond and then the creek ?
