Subject: RE: Pouring side walk cost?

Most old sidewalks are about 3" low compared to the surrounding dirt/lawn. I always thought it would be easier and better to leave the old sidewalk, get some 2 X 3 for forms and pour 2-1/2 to 3" right over the old walk and call it a day. Next day take forms off and find a couple wheel barrows of dirt and fill what is close letting the sidewalk a couple inches high so the wind blows most of the snow off and hence less winter scooping. Would think that would be the best base ever could be unless bottom old walk is a complete broken up mess. Might even put some adhering stuff to try to get them to stick together. just MY thoughts
