I built my corrals and gates out of 2 3/8 oilfield pipe that came from stripper wells. The above article is correct. I have many spots that have rusted through during the past 22 years.  Sometimes this pipe is subject to crowding but I have had no trouble with any of it collapsing with the cow and bull pressure. $33 sounds pretty high to me.
