Has anyone used Brent's bushing kit for taking the slop out of a graincart hitch?

That's interesting. What do you mean when you say they had a hammerstrap hitch that worked with the weigh pin? Are you saying that you were able to replace what I would call a "tongue" type hitch on the graincart with what I would call a "clevis" type hitch and that the clevis type hitch was designed for a 1.5" hitch pin so it would not jerk around so much?

Do you have any pictures of your hitch?
