central - east central Minnesota - | It's one thing to know your fields and wet spots - it's another when custom planting (no-till) and not knowing the field. One spring, this one field I was on, had many hidden mud traps in it. Water seeping just under the soil crust - looked dry on top, walk on it, it's hard . . . then put the weight of the tractor or dolly wheel ankor wheels of the drill on it and sink . . I forget how many times I was stuck that day .. . but as I recall, I spent more time unhooking and pulling myself out then I did planting that 80 acres. . . . mud . .. |
