West Texas
YOW! A BUG*! KILL IT!

Seriously, the ticks have been baaad the last couple or four years, even for Texas. If it wasn't for the new treatments like Advantix, etc, there would be a lot of nearly dead dogs starved for blood by the danged varmints. We've got all kinds of ticks. The cattle ticks are the worst, they'll suck a dogs blood til theyre the size of a grape.

Hard to imagine, but if the medical geniuses can find sho-nuff uses for leeches and maggots, then I reckon a place will eventually be found for the tick. Maybe as a painless, sneaky way to draw blood for a DNA test ... drop a hungry tick down the collar of a suspect...

*catchall term referring to any creepycrawly with too many legs.
