Subject: RE: Do Union Dues make economic sense?

southern middle TN
They make economic sense for union honchos, not so much for ones having to pay them in. All that I can see the unions do for us railroaders is set our vacation. Every time that I have been fired, I got to come back to work when the RR said so, not when the union said so. They definitely don’t put up any kind of fight when it comes to contract negotiations, they love to roll over and play dead when the RR starts pressuring them on things. They love to spend your dues on silly little glossy magazines and newspapers. They love to hobknob with RR executives drinking whiskey, sharing whores, and playing golf. And they’re favorite thing is insuring that they keep their cushy jobs, at the expense of yours if they have to. That being said, if we didn’t have unions, the RR would probably be paying Hispanic labor 10 bucks an hour to move their freight. And, as long as we cant strike, the RR knows they’ve got us by the nuts. I’m sure some unions are better and actually attempt to represent their members, but I can only speak for our RR unions. In my occupation, it seems as if the union has outlived its usefulness. After reading the replies above, I realize that this is a complicated issue due to the fact that unions and Democrats go hand in hand. Most conservatives morals and values don’t line up with union views on a lot of things, but no hard working man in his right mind is gonna turn down thirty to forty dollars an hour with benefits and a pension just because he doesn’t believe in or agree with union principles and ideology. This is just my opinion on the matter and you know what they say about opinions. Have a great evening guys!
