Subject: RE: Do Union Dues make economic sense?

Ludington/Manistee MI area
Been a Steelworker member since 1996. Our site is one of only a few union sites our company has and our safety record is one of our companies best. If asked to do something unsafe it gives you the ability to pushback with less fear of repercussions. Locally the better paying jobs are union. It helps to take the butt kissing and back stabbing out of the work environment. Bad employees here have been forced out it just takes more of a paper trail. Here management finds ways to make life more pleasant for good workers. The job I had in college I had a boss that would do anything to get ahead makes me happy when I see him in public and think I’m making $25,000 a year more than him now.

If everyone in management lived by the golden rule in life unions wouldn’t have as much of a place.
