 West Texas | I guess that I would be considered biased. I spent about 45 years working for the "other feller" with 5 of those years being in a union. % years of union dues and to this day, I can see no advantage over the jobs that I had in the other 40 years. I guess the most memorable instance of working in the union shop was the one night a light bulb burnt out and I went back to the electricians supply room, got a 150 watt bulb and changed it out. The electrician filed a grievance against me because I had deprived him of 4 hours overtime by not calling him out to change the bulb. In my opinion, the unions have long ago outlived their benefits and are now just adding unnecessary expenses to the worker and the companies. |
