Subject: RE: Do Union Dues make economic sense?

Northern CA
My opinion, is there was once a place for unions. Maybe working conditions weren't fair or safe, low pay, etc. I think times have changed. I can't think of an unsafe condition that a union would protect a worker from that multiple state and federal agencies wouldn't already regulate. I believe in a persons right to work and pursue the American dream. I also believe an employer has the right to terminate a poor performing employee. Unions have protected the under achiever and do nothing for the top notch employee. Try to fire a teacher in this state... When did a teacher's right to keep a job, merely on the merits that he/she has been employed for 3 years, supersede my children's right to a quality education?
