Subject: Do Union Dues make economic sense?

Farmington, Mo
I ask this because I have no idea and I want to be educated. My curiosity is due to the Prop A ballot initiative next week here in Missouri concerning right to work.

If you listen to union folks, they say this leads to lower wages which is probably true, however, my thinking is it may be a wash for what the worker actually takes home. But I concede I really don’t know hence my post here on the topic.

Principally speaking, I’m against being forced to buy something (i.e. Obama Care), so on the surface right to work sounds good. Unions are not banned or outlawed, you simply don’t have to join if you don’t want to...that I’m in favor of!!

But, I do want to be fully informed about this and maybe this is the wrong forum but I figured the Cafe would be more civil than TPP. I just want honest facts and numbers, no political arguments please!

How much money does dues and union expenses take from your check every month? Would you choose to pay union dues if you didn’t have to?
