north central Oklahoma | Many places now don't even take bottles for recycling. The philosophy is there is mo shortage of sand, the base material of glass, and the handling, sorting, hauling, etc, etc, is not worth it and only a convenience to the customer. Most glass that is collected goes to concrete fill material, a substiture for sand. Aluminum (or aluminium as the Brits want to call it) is truly recycled. Many recycle centers at the moment are taking nothing, manufacturing has come to a screeching halt nationwide, and things have changed significantly form just a few months ago. | |
