The faster the better. But we have gone as slow as 4 mph and still worked. We rake 2 16' swaths together with a 12 wheel new holland built by sitrex. We make the swath 5' wide so we can just bale it if needed without raking. Only thing we have needed is a couple of dust caps on the rake wheels and a couple of lug bolts. (They are an odd size).
