Subject: RE: Homeless get care south of border as well

my daughter works for Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.

That facility is a 750+ bed facility that is a Level 1 Trauma center. Because of that label, no one can be turned away at the door. Insurance or not. Able to pay or not.

My first wife was an RN at a Catholic hospital, which being a charitable organization, couldn't refuse care to anyone. They had an illegal from South of the border that was a quadriplegic on life support from a car accident-drunk, of course. No nursing home or any other long-term facility would touch him with a 10 ft. pole, so he was at the hospital ICU for 2 or 3 YEARS...they finally tracked down his family in Mexico & talked them into taking him. Flew him down in the hospital's plane. The bill for that had to be horrendous.
