Subject: RE: Farm machinery auction question

Nw Iowa
Auction business is not as simple as it used to be. Internet cataloging, taking hundreds of photos or sometimes close to a thousand for internet, collecting from all Internet bidders after auction. Internet has added whole new dimension but very time consuming. Some companies use only their own internet bidding platform, others may use two for same auction to expose auction to more bidders.
If you want a turn key sale you will pay more than if you agree to do your own cleanup. Auction staff should always help with lineup or be on hand on line up day or days to direct customers and his or her help. Auctioneer or staff should be checking in with client a number of times to make sure everything is on track. Charges vary because one line will be waxed and perfectly clean and ready to go while another may be sitting in the weeds, need batteries and tires fixed before it can even be moved. Farmers that have worked with their equipment their whole life generally prefer to get their own equip ready with advice on what to do from auctioneer while sometimes in a estate situation there is nobody to do anything so it is the auction company does all. Some offer everything in their quoted commission and others have a commission with options. It is best to compare apples to apples and make sure when you sign contract what you are expected to do and what services are included.
