Canada geese molt during the time the young-un's are hatching and getting around. When the goslings are half-grown, neither they nor their parents can fly. If you take an inkling to catching one, it's pretty easy. Watch for them to get far enough away from a pond, and head one off into the field a ways, then grab it.
