| I'm self-employed. We canceled our insurance with Bluecross when it went to over $1000/month. I don't remember my deductible anymore but I remember adding it up and our total out of pocket would have been $28,000 in premiums and deductible until they covered anything. I was 30, wife 25, 1 kid. Been on medishare ever since. It's around $400/month, $5000 family deductible. We got a discount for being healthy. You give drs a card like insurance. It feels like insurance. We had our 2nd kid after joining. We received a bill for around $11,000. My wife called in to the hospital to see if it was right, and here all but $1500 (our portion) was paid. Other medishare members monthly dues went to the hospital for our bill that month. Thought that was neat. I went in the bluecross website the other day just out of curiosity. Our plan would be close to $2000 a month now.
Between the tax man, and insurance man (including workers comp and health insurance) they'll take it all if you dont watch. | |
