I guess I'm a little biased because this is what I do for a living and have for the past 5 years. I stay busy as much as I want. This job is what the agent makes it to be. I can be lazy and not do anything, but I choose to get out and work. I get walk-in traffic quite a bit and get called on a lot by guys that have been farming all their lives. This may also depend on the county too. My county is about 600,000 acres and around 500,000 is in crop production. There are counties here in AR that are quite dependent on their agent and there a some that aren't. And as far as the younger newer agents, give them a break. We were all green behind the ears at one time. I grew up in row crops then went to school and studied cattle and ag mechanics. Never thought I'd come home. But that's where I ended up and as lost as last years Easter egg. Thank God I'm a quick learner! Just my two cents... Jen |
