That would seem to be big enough, but obviously it depends on the fall, or backfall in your case. But also depends on the instrument he was using, if he was just using a simple handheld one it could be off 2’. I know you might find this surprising, but not all excavating companies doing drainage work are rocket scientists, and boy do I got a story to tell, that wil just about make a guy cry.

Is it 42” running through your land or is it 42” further down the line?
