Excavating company had a handheld GPS, said he could take a reading here and drive to Des Moines and take a measurement and figure fall. He said what it cost, but can't remember now, maybe 20k+.
Always wondered about the outlet, its a 42" main for 1200 acres, haven't done the math but it seems like it should be sufficient, but losing half the capacity near the end makes a lot of sense now.
