The third pedal is also bad for re-sale value, on average selling for $2,000 less than cars with automatic transmissions.


My 20 y.o. sister was looking for a manual trans car specifically. The craigslist seller had a number of potential buyers look at the three pedals, and go "nope." She got a really good deal on it.

In our church, there's probably equal number of drivers under 35 as over 35. I'd guess the younger set has 15% manual trannys. None in the older set. Aside from the cool factor, the biggest reason for the discrepancy is the kind of vehicle each one is after. The young people are looking for cheap used cars and pickups(think 1990's). The older group is driving mini-vans, new pickups, and fancier cars.
