Then there is "fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me".
It's the shame on me, and this was after 3 or 4 times. He didn't become a much better neighbor, just got bolder about trying to use me. He'd probably stop payment on a check to me. No thanks, I'll keep my distance.
