If you empty the tank completely and get it really clean with some carb cleaner JB Weld will work just fine. I did it on the bottom side of my ford 9n 10 years ago and the repair looks like brand new. I used the fast set and put on about 3 nice layers just like cake batter and had perfect results. Rough up the area with some 80 or 60 grit sandpaper first and go to town. I would let it set a day or so before filling it back up. Should hold fine.
