I had the same problem with my last pickup. I was a dressed up on my way to church and ruined my clothes. Finally called my neighbor and he brought a cordless sawzall and we cut it off. I also ground off the safety hook on the new latch. The GM engineeres must not think anybody drives on a gravel road!
