I have had some success tapping a very thin wedge of hard wood into the gasket line where the leak seems to be. I think the one I am remembering was a 5020 or 6030 and I used the wedge that came with an ax handle. Once it tapped in a little way it shattered of course so I just battered the fibers flush with the surrounding metal and that was enough to compact the gasket.
