I’m not. I posted below the corn growth model for identical hybrids for my farm for 2017 and 2018 for my farm. 2017 67 days Grain fill. Avg 60. 2018 projected at 53 days.

That has to affect the final yield despite very good overall conditions here. Been about 4 days since the last rain and got another 7/10’s 2 nights ago. Beautiful rains, warmer than desired nights, daytime temps okay.

You can’t really delay sensescence in corn with good conditions, even with fungicide - I read up on the research on that the other day. Beans are different and I don’t know anything about wheat or other crops.

Neither SoDak nor I are calling for disaster, just common sense that kernel sizes and weights may not match 2017. May well be there are more kernels, I expect more on my farm due to better early season weather.

Some of the guys last year figured up the projected USDA ear weight, wonder what that is looking like right now.
