My only bitch about big livestock operations is when the owner does not live on the farm. They stick a hired man there and they live in town. I asked a guy who wanted to build pig barns whay are you living town and sticking a hired man there. He said his wife didn't want to smell the pigs.

I agree I have always said day #1, barn #1, permit #1 should stipulate that the barn should be built within so many feet of the home of the person applying for the permit. If you are unwilling to live with the smell it is BS to force it upon your neighbors, if you want to have good neighbors you must be a good neighbor first. And I'm not anti animal agriculture, I grew up raising hogs and cattle, and currently have an open air cattle feedlot, with cattle in it 365 days a year, all within a few hundred feet of my house.
