Virginia Beach is wall to wall people and a large number of the rental homes all shift on Saturday, one group goes home and a new group arrives. It is pretty crazy. The beach itself is actually pretty nice.
Saint Simon Island in Georgia is a nice place, but a lot farther to drive.
