A kid I grew up with went to work for his BIL whose family had McD franchises here & in Arizona. After a couple years he convinced his dad to borrow money on the ranch to get his own McDonald's. He now has about 10 or 12 of them all over Western CO & Eastern Utah. Has more money than Davy Crockett, but still has the ranch, it's his hobby now...his son is pretty much running the business.
But yeah, I think the McD thing has matured out. I think a new franchise is like $1mil just for the name.
