Would love to have a sign like, but it wont happen till the 40's some time.

My grandfather moved onto the farm I own today in 1917. During the 30's he couldn't pay the taxes and a insurance company bought the place for the back taxes. Him and my dad never moved off the farm. Was it FDR said insurance companies couldn't own farm land and to sell it back to the farmers, kind of fuzzy on this. Anyway my dad bought it back in the 40's, then sold it to me in the 90's. God willing I will give it to my son who is working his way into farming. He has a full time job and helps me on off days.

Been thinking about getting a huge rock we have and move it to the farm site and have it engraved.

Established 1917, the put the owners name on the rock the dates.

100 years from now the history will be there, till someone buries the rock!!

Unless history is documented, it becomes lost as time passes by. I'm sure your farm's story happened to many folks in the 30's. Document everything and pass it on. It's still a great heritage. It helps us to understand the trials of our forefathers.
