Hagen Brothers farms,Goodrich ND | A small town where we do most of our shopping has a busy train crossing on a state highway with a very long siding extending on both sides of the crossing.
Usually when they are switching cars or holding an opposite direction train on the siding, things clear in 10-20 minutes, but if it is going to be a long stop, they have an air hose with appropriate couplings laying in the groove beside the rail so they can split the train and attach that long hose at the crossing I suspect to maintain air brakes on the entire train.
