| They tear up and pack a lot more ground than just the footprint of the tower. The tower sits on a huge hunk of concrete way to big to be removed at the end of the contract. There has to be a significant loss of crop productivity from that ground working and packing and if the wind turbine needs major repairs that big crane has to come back and it won't fit on the pickup service road. The contract needs to include removal at end of life or non renewed contract, and continued ownership of land by the farmer, but never the wind turbine, unless you want to pay huge property taxes on a broken wind turbine when the company goes belly up.
