It makes you inefficient from the owner's point of view.

It also makes you 'greedy' by any reasonable person's definition.  

I'm not sure I understand how some come to the conclusion that paying MORE rent makes someone 'greedy,' though.  

I've never said being greedy is necessarily a bad thing as long as it is kept within legal boundaries.  For the most part, it's what fuels the economy and leads to innovation.
