I think you might only need birth certificates for the kids. And make sure none of them are old enough to claim you kidnapped them!!!!!
Birth certificate is enough. Absolutely no funny business allowed at the crossing. (Sunglasses off, kids have no earphones). No ammo,no guns. (The scanner has been known to find lost boxes of .22lr.).
Fort Erie, (C),Fort Niagara(US) Toronto science museum (all day thing, expensive but if you have a museum or EAA membership with a participating museum then it's free.) Niagara (US? air and space is good for an afternoon. Wine and shopping on both sides of the boarder. Power project.....if you have any friends in electric distribution see if they can get you a tour.
There is a little Erie canal stuff scattered around. Check the Buffalo canalside schedule and avoid the area if they have a concert. Big naval service park in Buffalo. Also with a lot of luck you might find grain elevator tour. (Elevator was invented in Buffalo.)
Maid of the mist and cave of the winds if it's a once/life time must do.
Mumford village might be open. More Rochester NY way.
Don't plan on staying in Niagara falls. Just don't.
Edit to add. The very first tile drain was installed outside Geneva NY. Monument to Johnstone and there used to be a drainage museum.
