Mid Michigan | You could always use pallet racking beams. You can get them at the scrapyard pretty cheap and they are strong as h@ll. A lot of the sections of pallet rack are capable of 5000 lb loads. If you stacked them on there solid they would hold a very heavy load for you. You could also stagger one rack beam and one rough sawn 4x6 and make it half steel and half wood. Would be very strong. I was going to make a bridge over our ditch for my quad to drive over and was planning on building it out of pallet racking. I was even planning on using the uprights laid on their side for guard rails to keep me from driving off the side. The quad is only about 1200 lbs with me on it so I was going to make a pallet rack frame with a wood deck but it could be made out of all rack beams if you need it to be strong like your bridge.
