Watkinsville, GA | Well I had a calf not come to the feed trough with its mom this afternoon. I needed to tag it so I set out to find it. Told myself I need to watch out for snakes! Well I eased through the woods and sure enough I see a dang rattle snake (Timber) . I had chills all over me. No joke! I was as close as 6ft from this thing. It never moved. I thought it was dead, maybe cows stepped on it. Went back to the truck to get my .17HMR and my shovel. Got back to it and it still hasn't moved. Finally I threw some dirt on it and I see its head move. I got back a little and shot rite over it twice. I was to close but it still NEVER moved! Stepped back alittle bit more and smoked it on the 3rd shot. It curled up then and went to rattling. Mercy! I do not care much for snakes. Put my welding glove on for a pic though. Haha. It was fat as a tick and 4ft long. 9 rattles and a button
