MAKITA 700 NB. $110 bucks brand new (WELL WORTH IT) or $35-60 at a pawn shop. Well worth the wait.

My dad bought a Makita 7 1/4” saw in the 1980’s and used it a heck of a lot. All I ever did to it for him was replace the cord and brushes once. The last time he probably used it was in 2005 or 2006 before his health changed. He always kept a sharp blade on it. There’s no telling how many sheets of 3/4” and 1/2” plywood he ripped with it. Or how many 2x boards were crosscut. He passed away a little over a couple months ago. I need to get it out and saw some wood in his memory.

Sorry to hear about your DAD, by all means, plug it in and at least pull the trigger !! I finally burned up a MAKITA that was bought brand new in '89. Granted,3 switches and 2 sets of brushes, but finally smoothed the armature off!! HEAVY,HEAVY use over the years!!
