I’ll be the odd man out. While I agree that a 600c series is a big step up in many regards, I really miss our 893 more often than not.

We never really pushed as hard as most so some of the features on the new series don’t do us any good. The longer stalk rolls do seem to be better but imo not as good the calmer rolls we had on the 893. Gathering chains are def an improvement, no question there.

If you have down corn like we do usually someplace every year, we cannot get the newer one to pick up down corn like our old one. The stalk rolls don’t stick out far enough or something, the 893 it seemed would almost pick stalks right out of the dirt.

I guess the snouts are heavier and better with the wear strips, but also much more money to buy new when you run them in the ground.

We had a headlight system on our older head and it was flawless, IMO the Deere system is not as good. Especially when you want to run the points right on the ground.

This is a 13 model 608 so it’s got the updated features. Considering what we gave to trade I wish we would have kept our older one.

These were both ran on an 11 9770sts that we still have so no difference in machine pushing it. I could run just as fast in corn with the old as the new. Never had a problem with gearboxes as some have had so maybe we were just lucky.

I’m sure I’m the odd man on this one but I miss our 893.
