I don't see how you honor someone by spending money to have yourself permanently scared in their memory.


I had a coach in high school that lost an infant son and got a roadrunner with the name “Tyce” under it tattooed on the back of his calf. That one always made a lot of sense to me. He’s coached a lot of kids over the years and I bet most of them know who Tyce is.


After we lost our daughter I contiplated getting a tat on the back of my left shoulder in her memory but I never did. The one time I really wished I had followed through with it was when I was being prepped for neck surgery ten years ago. I wish I could have said “see that tattoo on my shoulder? That’s in memory of my daughter who was killed by a surgeon who screwed up! Are you going to screw up and kill me too?”
