Subject: RE: The Tractor or Piece of Equipment That Broke The Farm

Eastern Oregon
When I started out, I relied on my dad's expertise (or lack of) for choosing a tractor. He prefers everything Massey. I still don't understand why?

Long story short, my first tractor was a MF 2705. When it's transmission imploded in the middle of the first cutting, it put a serious test to my finance.

Things only got worse when I replaced that with a 3545. I paid too much for that red curse, but was desperate at that point.

In retrospect, I would have been much better off leasing a tractor for a year, but again with my father's urging, bought another red lemon. That tractor being a basket case wasn't the worst part! It was tangled in a complicated bankruptcy (aliases and associated llc) and was at risk of total loss for two years.

No matter the scope of mistakes made, if you can survive, it's merely a learning opportunity...
