| When they started putting center pivots out in western Fresno County putting circles of gravel was one of the ways of keeping the the pivots from burying themselves in the thousands of feet thick clay topsoil. Another other option was trying to put out wood chips from old orchards down the wheel paths. Some people were even pulling off the sprinklers and dragging hoses down the furrows which I thought was kind of hilarious. Many were pulled out, scraped and switched to drip. | |
