Madison, Mississippi
Loaded question or what...haha. But being from MS, I would say 1/4 to 3/4 mile along and most times either side of most rivers, streams, sloughs and bayous of the MS River Delta of MS, LA, AR and MO. It’s the area that the topsoil from the best land in the MidWest that settled out of spring floods of the MS River for thousands of years.

Still lots of good land, heavy and light, but get much farther away from the streams and sloughs than that and there is some tough ground in places.

STO but have worked some of it all. Down here, it’s called ice cream land and has been said that you could work it with a Bantam Rooster and fork.
