South Central Lower Michigan | To clear a few things up:
They have 4 children all Adult. 36 Male, 26 Male farm with Dad. One daughter married 31 years old. One Daughter engaged 28 years old.
26 Year old essentially manages the farm operation in most aspects, although partnership with Dad is labor-in-kind and trading custom work.. Nothing formal.
36 year old is a partner on several farms on shares and rents a couple of his own. Again labor-in-kind.
The Dad operates as is common for farmers of his age ( C corp operating entity, rents his land to C corp)
All children think the mother is being greedy.
She was a good mother and all children agree on that.
She has had a bad habit of running up credit cards, which was of great annoyance to the Dad.
Her involvement in the farm operation was bringing fast food lunch to his crew a couple times a week during busy season. She was employed part time.
The Dad has offered the Mother $2.5 million in investments, and cash over time, as well and bought her a brand new house $275,000 and furnished it, hanging shelves and pictures etc. He says "just can't be married to her anymore, grown apart, etc."
The Dad is a pillar of the local community, coached youth football for a several years, installed irragation on a new practice field for the youth football league, donates his scrap iron to the lion's club. The total opposite of a drunkard or wife abuser of any kind.
Both Parties are now dating other people.
The mother continues to demand half of the estate, which her attorney says is worth $7.5 million (way high, and besides the point)
