Texas

Guy I know, 59 getting divorced.

He has amassed approximately 700 tillable acres of owned land, and rents the rest.

The wife wants 50% of the assets, including the land and machinery or wants bought out for 50% of the value of the land at today's market price.

Obviously that cash doesn't exist in a savings account, she did nothing for the business during the marriage.

What can he do to keep his farm?

Obviously that would be an opinion from one side. It also can be interpreted in many ways.

I only know of one that got out alive. And it was solely because she wanted the divorce, not him. That was his bargaining chip to reduce the settlement.

Someone once told me that money is better spent on a private investigator than than a lawyer.

Texas is a no fault divorce state . Had 2 different friends witness x running around.
It was not worth a cent in court .

Some that work and help do deserve their half . Some don’t deserve 5% of the farm .
