Dallas Center IA 515-720-2463 | My F-20 and F-30 fooling days were 50 years ago. There were lots of them still sitting around and cheap.
But you can forget a lot in 50 years.
There were several ways to get more speeds in a F-20. Big reason was a faster road speed with rubber tires.
Have seen a deal that was really a overdrive for all four gears. So eight speeds forward
A overdrive but just one faster speed. So five speeds
Have never heard of one that you lost one of the slower speeds to get a overdrive.
There should be a shift pattern cast into the tractor near the shift lever.
By the way, steel wheels at 5 mph is Not Fun on a gravel road. Pure Hell.
Remember driving two from the Living History Farm north to a farm very close to Grimes.
All gravel then - All paved today, some four lane.
We tried the road ditch. Better but worried we would get in a place where would have to get back on road, but could not climb out of ditch.
Backing up would not work, pulling 2 bottom plows.
Plus it was cold, trying to rain damp, and getting close to dark.
Both of the tractors had a road gear. Had been switched back to steel.
Friend gave road gear a try!! Waved for me to do it.
It worked. Really shook less than 5 mph.
However five minutes at a time was enough, but you covered some distance. |
