Subject: RE: Case IH quad trac vs Jd 9rx

I’ve run a case 620 quad with 30in tracks for 1200hrs traded for a 9620rx with 36in tracks this year.

With the quad we lost an average of 3-4 days of seeding time every year due to def codes and other small issues. Had 2 boogie wheel seals go out during that time. The iveco uses about 15-18 gph and we filled def every third or fourth day. Fill def everyday on the John Deere. I use the AFM system on both. Case ran 1700rpm and John Deere runs 1480rpm -1620 depending on the load.

Case-

Pros-smooth on and off the road. Plenty of power for what we needed to do. Just keep the rpms up. Worked great once they fixed the def issues but it was always in the back of my mind when the alarm would sound again. Controls were intuitive and cab was ease to see out of.

Cons- transmission shifts hard even after calibrations. I wouldn’t wish the Pro700 monitor on anybody. Did I mention the def problems? Changing the oil takes three men and a small child. No storage in cab.

John Deere-

Pros- transmission is smooth and keeps up to changing loads, cab is quiter because the engine is not running as high of rpms. 62-64db compared to 70-72 in quad. 4600 is 100x better than the pro700 and transmission parameters are easier to set. Uses less fuel during lighter duty tasks. About the same fuel use when pulling harder. Hooks up to the ground a little better.

Cons-Rides a little rougher going down the road and field. Def tank is to small. Cab is more difficult to see out of. Can’t see the hitch from cab.

If I was to do it again I’d buy the green one. Haven’t missed a day of seeding yet and I know I’ll be rolling soon if something does happen. Time will tell with track system and easy of maintenance.
