![](/profile/get-photo.asp?memberid=49306&type=profile&rnd=523) Tomball,Texas | I had a hive get taken over by Africanized bees,they can slowly breed into your hives but they can also move into your hive,an Africanized queen and a few of her workers will “sneak” into a hive and kill the existing queen and she will just start laying eggs and your bees will raise them,in a couple months all the old ones are dead and the new ones are Africanized. That’s what an older beekeeper told me.
I’ve got 25 hives of my own and a beekeeper has around 400 on our place,when one of mine got taken over a few years ago I tried to requeen it twice and failed both times,the beekeeper I know raises queens cells and they didn’t cost me anything.A quart of gasoline and a match solved that problem pretty fast.
