AC Spark Plug in Flint Mi. built about 350,000 of the 2 million plus M2s produced during WW2 and many are still in use. GMC built Steering Gear Factory #2 in Saginaw to build M1919 machine guns and later added M1 Carbines. A co-worker in my early years with the Conservation service said his wife work in a sub-contracted plant in Caro Mi. producing components for GMC machine guns. Steering Gear plant #2 was always known as "the Gun Plant". | |
