I'm the father of a teen daughter. She wasn't raised to be fearful of creepy crawling things but peer pressure and other parents fear keeps trying to derail what we've taught. Lots of folks who taught their kids to be afraid of bees but not getting pregnant, or getting a dwi, or foolish debt.
We are the greatest peredator on the planet. No other mortal living thing has a fraction of the power to harm us that we have to them, even on an individual basis.
