at the risk of stating the obvious, one batch is CDs and the other is DVDs. CDs are for file storage and audio (and limited video), and are limited to just under 800MB of data. DVDs are intended for video, but can also store large quantities of data. DVD capacity is somewhere around 4-5GB, IIRC (or several times higher than CD capacity).
